On the very cold and grey Friday the 13th of September (what a date for a momentous occasion?), my partner Nick and I signed our lives away on a block of land in Chewton, near Castlemaine in country Victoria. For years we’ve been searching for a block where we can create our dream – building an eco-house where Nick can show off his green building expertise (he’s an ecological designer/ engineer at Urban Digestor), where we can create a huge vegetable patch and where I can garden to my hearts delight. We have a 6 month settlement period as our purchase is conditional on getting planning permits, so hopefully all goes to plan and the 3/4 acre block will hopefully officially be ours by the end of April 2014. We’re so excited!!
