United States Seed Permits
ORDERING SEED PRODUCTS
Permit Requirements & Process
Thank you so much for your order. As our Gift of Seeds products contain seeds for sowing, you are required to obtain a Small Seeds Lot Permit to import seeds into the United States. We strongly recommend you obtain a Small Seeds Lot Permit as this will avoid the risk of having your order stopped or confiscated by U.S. Customs.
Permits must be obtained by the importer (you). It is a simple process and can be applied for online at no cost. During that time, you may import any number of lots of up to 50 packets of seed at any given time. For more information visit: United States Department of Agriculture Small Seed Lots
FOLLOW THE PROCESS BELOW TO OBTAIN A PERMIT
Step 1: Register online with USDA
Register online for an eAuthentication USDA Level 2 Account. This will allow you to submit your ePermit application in the fastest possible way. Once you have registered you can then apply for your ePermit online.
STEP 2 – Apply for a Small Lots of Seed Permit
Apply Online
For the fastest processing times we recommend you apply for an ePermit online. ePermit approval by the USDA normally takes 2 or 3 days and will be sent via email to your inbox.
Apply Manually
Alternatively you may download the form directly below and fax or snail mail to the USDA. On the first line of section(3) – ‘Intented Use’ – check mark SMALL LOTS OF SEED PROGRAM
Application PPQ Form 587 (Import Plants or Plant Products)
Starting on the second line, list the seed species and countries from which you want to ship each species. If the list of species is long, you may enter “eligible taxa”. By using this option, you are accepting responsibility for determining the eligibility of the seeds.
You can find the scientific names of each seed in our Gift of Seeds packs in the list below.
STEP 3 – Email ePermit to Sow ‘n Sow
Once you have received your approved ePermit and one green and yellow shipping label from the USDA, please attached to an email via info@sownsow.com.au and we can process your order.
